Frequently Asked Questions

What time do I have to bring the RV back?

All RVs must be returned no later than 10am on your contracted return date.  You may opt for a later drop-off time for an additional fee.  There are strict fees for RVs that are returned later than 10am.

What time can I come pick up my RV Rental?

We schedule all RV pick-ups from our facility between 1pm and 4pm.  You must schedule a time so that one of our associates can do a walk-thru with you.  Earlier times can be arranged for an additional fee.

How do I reserve an RV?

You can book an RV using our online reservation system or by calling 440-282-5600. We require a $300 deposit for RV reservations. We accept cash, Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, and Diners Club cards. We also accept personal checks with a valid credit card on file.

How much does renting an RV cost?

The cost of renting an RV is comprised of three parts: a reservation deposit, the rental fee, and a security deposit. A $300 reservation deposit is due at the time of your reservation that will later be applied to the rental fee.

The amount of your rental fee is based on the type of RV you rent, how far you’re traveling, and how long you decide to be gone. The rental fee is due 30 days before your departure date.

A $1000 security deposit ($1500 if contracted renter is 21-24 years old) for motor homes, or a $500 security deposit for travel trailers will be authorized on a credit card the day you depart.  This authorization will be for a 10-day hold on your credit card.  After 10 days, the hold will automatically come off. If you are having delivery service, the security deposit must be authorized the day before on a credit card.  Possible charges that can be deducted from your credit card post-rental are: fuel, L.P. gas, additional mileage, additional generator hours, excessive cleaning, smoking fines, late charges and damage to the unit/deductibles. If you are renting for a time period longer than a week, or if there is damage done to the RV, your credit card will be re-authorized for an additional 10-day hold to determine if any additional charges need to be collected.  This deposit is subject to the terms and conditions of our rental contract.  You may choose to bring in cash or a check for the security deposit, but both forms of these payments will be deposited and then re-issued a refund post-rental on the Friday after your return date.

For all payments, we accept Discover, Mastercard, Visa, American Express, Diners Club, cash or personal check (if there is time to clear the check before departure). There is a one-time $25 processing fee assessed for all credit cards.

How old do you have to be to rent an RV?

You have to be at least 21 years old to rent a motor home from Neff Brothers RV, and at least 25 years old to rent a travel trailer. If you are renting a motor home and are between the ages of 21-24, you must also provide an extra $500 security deposit at departure ($1,500 total). If renting a travel trailer, the total security deposit is $500.

When is full payment required?

The balance of the rental fee, not including the $300 reservation deposit, is due 30 days prior to departure. You will receive a reminder email that it’s due. The security deposit is not due until your departure date.

When do I get my security deposit back?

If you paid by cash or check for the security deposit, every Friday, security deposits are refunded from the week’s prior rental returns. If you used a credit card for the security deposit, the 10-day hold on the card’s authorization will expire exactly 10 days after the processing date.

Are there charges for additional miles and can I pre-purchase chunks of miles?

Yes, if you exceed the allotted free mileage included in your reservation contract, you will pay $0.55 per mile for the additional miles upon your return. You can pre-purchase an extra 500 miles for $170 or 800 miles for $250. Both options will reduce your per-mile fee significantly, but you will not be reimbursed for any mileage not used.

Is there an additional driver charge?

Yes, you can add additional drivers at $5 per night, per driver. Your basic contract allows for one driver who is covered under all Physical Damage Waivers included in the contract (insurance).

Do I have to dump the holding tanks before returning the RV?

No, you do not have to dump your holding tanks before returning the RV.

Do I have to clean the interior before returning the RV?

No, you do not have to clean the RV upon returning, although we very much prefer it not be trashed.

Do I have to fill the fuel tank before returning the RV?

We require the fuel tank be at the same level as when you started your rental unless you have purchased an all-inclusive package that includes a final fuel refill. If refueling is required, you will be charged $35 for every ⅛ tank filled.

Do you offer one-way rentals?

Yes, we can do a one-way rental. We will assess an extra charge for a driver to pick up the rental and return it to Neff Bros RV. All overhead costs for our driver will be covered in the extra charge, which will be a minimum of $2,000.

What kind of RVs do you use?

We rent Forest River Sunseekers for our class “C” fleet, FR3s for our class “A” fleet and Starcraft for our travel trailers.  All units are less than 18 months old, and most less than 6 months.

Will I be given a walkthrough of the RV before departing?

Yes, you will be given a walkthrough upon pickup of your RV. A Neff Bros RV associate will go over every aspect of the rental RV with you, inside and out. You will also receive a handout for reference in case something is forgotten. An emergency phone number will also be provided. We recommend that two people be present for the walkthrough, and we mandate that all cell phones and/or electronic devices be turned off during this procedure.

Is an RV difficult to drive?

No, an RV is not difficult to drive. Instruction on driving and operating an RV is provided when you arrive to pick up the RV. We also offer pre-driving practice with an experienced driver from our facility if requested. This includes a practice run through an urban traffic area, highway driving, backing up and parking.

What happens if I break down?

You will be given a number to call in the event of a breakdown. One of our technicians will answer your call and assist you. If the vehicle is not able to be driven, roadside assistance is provided.

What happens if I have an accident?

Accidents involving other vehicles must have a police report on file for the included insurance to be valid. We will provide you with a list of things to acquire from the other person (phone number, insurance company, etc.). If you damage only the RV and no other person or property (inadvertently or otherwise), a police report will not be needed.

Most importantly, don’t let it ruin your vacation. We’ll take care of it when you get back.

Do I need my own insurance?

For motor home rentals, a Physical Damage Waiver is included with all rentals, meaning the contracted drivers are only responsible for deductibles outlined in the terms/conditions (http://neffbrosrv.com/motor-home-insurance/) if the RV suffers any damage due to any type of accident. The renter’s personal liability is always primary if there is any damage occurring with other people or property involved.

For travel trailers, you must supply proof of insurance on the vehicle you are towing with.

Can I tow a car or trailer?

Yes, you can tow a car or trailer for an additional fee of $25 per night. We do, however, stipulate that you provide your own personal insurance coverage through your auto carrier for the RV. Comprehensive, collision and liability coverage for the RV is required. A written binder must be submitted to Neff Bros RV before departure. Our insurance does not cover towing.

Do I need a special drivers license?

No, a special license is not required for U.S. citizens to operate a recreational vehicle. A valid state license must be provided and a copy kept on file to operate the RV. If you are traveling from a foreign country, a valid international drivers license and passport for the contracted driver(s) is required, copies of which will be kept on file.

Are pets allowed?

No, pets are not normally allowed. Exceptions are made for service dogs. If evidence of a pet is found without prior authorization, a minimum $500 cleaning fee will be assessed.

Is smoking allowed?

No, smoking is never allowed inside a rental RV. If evidence of smoking inside a rental RV is found, a minimum $500 cleaning fee will be assessed.

Do your RVs have GPS navigation systems?

Yes, our Class “C” RVs all have factory-installed GPS navigation systems. Our Class “A” RVs do not have factory-installed GPS.

Do your RVs have generators onboard?

Yes, all of our motor homes have generators onboard to supply AC electricity and keep the coach batteries charged. There is a $45 per weekend (3 nights) and $105 per week (7 nights) charge assessed for unlimited use of the generator. There is a $150 cap for generator use per rental. Travel trailers do NOT have generators.

When do I use a generator?

You can use the generator while on the road to supply AC electricity for the air conditioning, microwave and all AC outlets. You will not need to use your generator at the campground if power is supplied at your campsite. The generator runs off of the same fuel tank as the engine and draws from the tank at the ¼ mark level. If the fuel level drops below the ¼ level mark, the generator will not run.

What type of fuel is used?

Both our Class C and Class A RVs use regular 87 octane gasoline. None of our rental RVs use diesel.

What can I expect my gas mileage to be?

Depending on the terrain and your driving habits, your gas mileage will range from 8-10 miles per gallon for Class C RVs and 6-8 miles per gallon for Class A RVs.

When pulling a travel trailer, expect to get anywhere from 7-12 miles per gallon depending on the vehicle you are towing with.

Are linens and housekeeping included?

No, we do not supply any personal items, but all hardware and specialty items for the RV are provided. This includes electric cords, electric adaptors, a sewer hose, water hose, special toilet paper and chemicals for the black tank.

Do you have other facilities?

No, our main facility is in Lorain, Ohio, but we offer delivery and pick-up service for all locations within a 750-mile radius.

Can you deliver an RV to my house?

Yes, one of our most popular services is door-to-door delivery and pick-up. We have delivered rental RVs up to 400 miles away from our facility. For a small fee, you can have this customized service added to your package. All fees are based on the mileage from our facility.

Can you pick me up from the airport?

Yes, for just $75 we offer shuttle service from Cleveland Hopkins International Airport during regular office hours (9 AM-5 PM, Monday through Friday).

Can I leave a vehicle at your facility?

Yes, many guests find it easier to pack up an RV at our facility in Lorain, Ohio, and start their vacation from there. Please feel free to leave your personal vehicle at our facility at no additional charge. We do require a waiver be signed.

Can I leave suitcases at your facility?

Yes, feel free to leave your personal luggage at our facility at no additional charge. We do require a waiver be signed.

What type of TV and entertainment features are in an RV?

Every RV is equipped with – at minimum – a 32-inch flat screen HDTV. The TV can be used with either the in-dash or external DVD player provided or the RV’s rooftop antennae, which is able to receive over-the-air HD television channels. An external hookup for cable TV is also provided.

Travel trailers are not equipped TVs.

Can I use the TV while driving?

Yes, the TV & DVD can be used while driving. Please be aware that hitting bumps and/or potholes can be detrimental to the effectiveness of your DVD players ability to function. We cannot be held responsible and will not compensate for such problems or issues with DVD players or discs.  You will be traveling in and out of signal areas, so watching television may not be suitable to your plans.

Can we walk around inside the RV while driving?

Although it is possible to walk around inside the RV while it’s moving, we recommend you stay seated with your seatbelt fastened whenever possible. Each state has specific laws about RV travel pertaining to seat belts. Although most are very “gray” about passengers in the rear of the vehicle, all people sitting in the driver and passenger seat of an RV must be belted at all times.

No passengers can ever travel or ride in a travel trailer that is being towed by another vehicle.

Is there seating that accommodates child car seats?

Yes, the recommended place to put a car seat is at the dinette seating area.  There are factory-installed restraints located there. Please inquire with a Neff Bros RV associate for additional information.

Can I leave the country with a rented RV?

Yes, going to Canada is permitted, though traveling to Mexico is prohibited.

Is there anywhere in the U.S. I can’t go with a rented RV?

Yes, going to Alaska is prohibited and Death Valley is prohibited during its peak heat seasons.

Can I take bicycles, kayaks, and other sporting equipment with me?

Yes, we can provide you with a bike rack for a fee. Depending on the size of other sporting equipment, it could be allowed. Check with a Neff Bros RV associate to find out if we can accommodate your request.

Can we walk on the roof?

No, walking on the roof is not allowed for safety reasons. Also, there are many parts of the RV that can be damaged by walking on the roof.

Do I need to bring special toilet paper?

No, four rolls of special RV Marine toilet paper is provided for you. If more is needed, you must purchase RV Marine toilet paper. We sell it in our store for a small fee.

What time do you close on Saturdays?

We operate on Saturdays from 9 AM to 3 PM. We are family-owned and operated, so we are closed on Sundays.

Where can I park an RV?

RVs can be parked anywhere you see large semi-trucks parked or where allowance is granted for any type of recreational vehicle. There are 1,000s of campgrounds throughout the U.S. and Canada that accommodate RVs. Visit these suggested sites for campgrounds: Woodalls Campsite Directory, KOA Directory, or Jellystone Park Directory.

There are also 1,000s of truck stops that allow overnight RV parking. Walmart allows RVs to park in its lots anywhere in the U.S. either overnight or for multiple days for free.

How much does it cost to camp?

Generally, state parks range from $25-$35 per night and normally at least include electricity. Private campgrounds and resort campgrounds can range from $45-$100 per night, depending on amenities and availability. Most campgrounds will offer a base site with limited hook ups for a certain rate, then you can add additional amenities for an additional cost per night.
