Distance from NBRV: 332 miles
Known as “the greatest two minutes in sports,” the Kentucky Derby horse race has occurred every year since 1875 in the city of Louisville, Kentucky. The first round of horse racing’s legendary Triple Crown, “The Run for the Roses” occurs on the first Saturday of May at the 1.25-mile thoroughbred track known as Churchill Downs.
No other stakes race comes close to the Kentucky Derby’s popularity, with over 150,000 people attending the race itself and many more making the trip to Louisville for the two-week-long Kentucky Derby Festival leading up to the race.
Competing for reasonably priced hotel rooms with the tens of thousands of people who attend the Kentucky Derby each year can be challenging and expensive. Fortunately, there are a number of campgrounds close enough to the action to make renting an RV the smart, easy choice. The Derby Park Expo Five is located just ten blocks from Churchill Downs and features 200 lots with electrical hookups, while the Kentucky Exposition Center is just one mile from the track and has 120 sites with full hookups for electricity, water and sewer. There are even two KOA-approved campgrounds less than 15 miles from the action.
The Kentucky Derby package is all-inclusive and covers roundtrip mileage, rental nights and generator use for this specific event. The package also includes early pick-up times and late drop-offs, permission for additional drivers, post-cleaning (interior, exterior and holding tanks), as well as final fuel and propane refills.
Estimated pricing begins at $1550 for a minimum of five nights and varies depending on duration, party size and options. Email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 440-282-5600 for an estimate.
